Porn Star Dancing

There's one good thing Chad Kroeger has done. Oh man that was a tough sentence to write. Fans if you haven't figured out anything about me you should know one thing. There is no reason Nickelback should be allowed to write any kind of music. From the boring hope filled balads to the hopeless rants about sex and partying, Nickelback has won over many people. How have they done it? The same formula over and over again. I don't know why people like them just they they have become a huge part of the new rock scene and have given the modern rock scene its most exposure.

In 2002 Kroeger and lawyer, Johnathon Simkin founded 604 Records. You may recognize 604 for signing a lot of top talent out of Canada. Which of course was Nickelback's roots. Thornly, Theory of a Deadman, and most recently My Darkest Days have signed on with Kroeger who has given these bands plenty of exposure.

My Darkest Days lead singer Matt Walst, the brother of Three Days Grace bassist Brad Walst, had become quite the musician and instead of playing for his brothers band decided to form his own.

When Kroeger heard this band he immediately signed them. The first song they wrote for their new label. "Porn Star Dancing." They filmed the video in Vegas with Kroeger, Black Label Society founder and former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne Zak Wylde, and the most recent version includes rapper, Ludacris. It has Post-Grunge written all over it. If it reminds you anything of Theory of a Deadman with a little Buckcherry thrown in? There you go!! Its party rock for sure and this song is gonna be HUGE!!

Unfortunately... and fortunately. This is an excellent band with a lot of musicality thrown in their music, but they missed the mark here. This may be a publicity stunt, and it will certainly generate a lot of interest. Lets hope we see the real band before long.

The Video is posted below for anyone who wants to watch it.

Once again lets move on to some good stuff

Not much more is as exciting to me than thinking about next week. Oh man!!! Linkin Park and one of the most excellent bands ever Jimmy Eat World will return!! Why aren't you all screaming like little school girls...is it just me...oh well I don't care!!

To be honest not a whole ton to be excited about this week. Some things I recently got!

Untouchable by Before their Eyes. I've always loved this band and with every CD they get better.

Audio Secrecy by StoneSour. You may call it the Slipknot B team. I call them Corey Taylor's BEST BAND, and you can quote me on that.

Anberlin's new album. Dark is the Way, Light is a Place. For anyone that loved BluePrints For The Blackmarket. This album is for you. I'm so in Love.

This CD has been out since last month, but I just now got my virtual hands on it. Red Jumpsuit Apparatus The Hell or High Water. Its a decent effort from RJA. This band seems to be on their way out. Sadly.

Well guys there wasn't much for me to rant and rave about this week. Let me hear from you guys. I really appreciate everyone that reads this, but I'd love to get some comments. Either on this page, our facebook page, or if any of you are Twitter fans. Follow us. ReTweet. Even word of mouth is ok. Tell all your friends. Really get out there and Shamelessly whore us out like I do!

If anyone wants to request an album review please comment. Tell us what you like. IF you tell us what you don't like I'll tell you to shove it. I'm just kidding. We want to improve and you are the only ones who can help us do that. Tell me what you think about my comments. You don't have to agree, there is this wonderful world of music out there with many different influences and sounds. It is such a beautiful place and everyone will like something different. I'm gonna do some album reviews this week hopefully one a day if I get some ideas from you guys. I think I've begged enough... Can't wait to hear back from everyone. Much Love be safe!

One Love,
C2RD

Save The D8; It's so Simple

Who is the guy with the shades and harmonica?

What’s up readers? I’m the Sir, of the blues/rock duo Mr. Young Man and the Sir, and guest writer of This Week’s Tempo. Rock and Roll owes its due to the blues, so why not express it in a resurgence of rock blues? While blues has never completely left the atmosphere, it has faced times of hardship. (No pun intended) Underground rock/blues has started to surface, especially in the past decade. So for the breakdown of this rock/blues article is to call attention to some great bands who have kept simple guitar riffs, pocket drumming, and soulful singing in style.

1. The White Stripes.
Jack White is genius, pure and simple. Watch the movie “It Might Get Loud” for a peek inside his mind. Also check out Seven Nation Army, Instinct Blues, You Don’t Know What Love Is, and Icky Thump for some of the music that graced us.

2. The Black Keys
Dan Auerbach on guitar and Patrick Carney on drums, simple as it gets.
Some singles to check out – I Got Mine, Next Girl, Thickfreakness
Their newest album is Brothers, buy it.

3. The Dead Weather
While not completely rock/blues, Jack White’s newest band captures the essence of the organ, guitar effects and soul. I Cut Like a Buffalo and Treat Me Like Your Mother are among my top 10 Jack White songs of all time.

4. John Mayer Trio
Not fitting in on this list at all is the media whore John Mayer. He may not be able to control his mouth, but thankfully he also cannot control his beast-like ability on the guitar. After writing as many female crooning songs as he could and before writing the Grammy award winning Continuum, John Mayer formed the John Mayer Trio with the grooviest studio drummer, Steve Jordan and studio bassist/beast Pino Pallidino. Strictly following the oldest rules of the blues, the John Mayer Trio covers essential artists (BB King, Ray Charles, etc.) while also creating soulful music. Some tracks to listen to – Everyday I Have the Blues, Who Did You Think I Was?, and Vultures.

And just for fun, download CC Adcock’s “Ya’ll Think She’d Be Good to Me,” for a great swamp rock blues experience. That’s all I have this time, hopefully I’ll get to make another guest spot on This Week’s Tempo for an even deeper underground rock/blues experience.

It's Been So Long Without You in My Life

Clicka One sings, "Whats up mija. Its been a long time since we talked. I just want you to listen. Don't talk just listen."

Whats up fans, It's been a long time since we've been here together. I just want you to read. Don't leave just read. If that isn't desperation then saddle me up and ride me like a horse. Yes Please Do That Anyways!!

Hear ye, Hear ye loyal people of the internet I'm back. I'm new, and I am improved(this is laughable). I missed all of you! Hope you guys like the new layout I'm gonna be working on it a bit as the week goes by. Everyone leave me some comments on improvements, things you'd like to see. We love hearing from you. Join the Facebook group if you haven't already and follow us on Twitter. TheProdigy and I have been working hard on getting this back up and running, and we are looking for new writers as well. If any of you are interested in contributing, please get in touch with us we'd love to have you. Also we are starting a blog about sports this should be dropping soon so check it out. www.southeasternsportsfan.blogspot.com. But now that all of that is out of the way let's wrap up and get started. Yeah! You know what I'm talking about.

First off, HUGE shout out to Swiperboy. My favorite rapper on this planet. The video below says EVERYTHING!

Also my people I have a problem with the current top songs on iTunes. What is that? There is so much excellent music out there, and I don't know if anyone is listening.  For those of you who wanna just see here check it out.
  1. Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
any song with the word "teenage" in it written by someone who is in fact not a teenager just reminds me of that awful song "Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus.
  2. Bruno Mars - Just the Way You Are
once again Mr. Mars proves he's nothing without Kid Cudi
  3. Taio Cruz - Dynamite
This song is terrible on many different levels. Which includes but not limited to: having no words over four letters long, an awful techno beat, and mentioning of "the club" Why is every song about "the club?"
  4. Love the Way You Lie - Eminem ft. Rihanna
Probably the only song on here worthy of its distinction
  5. D.J. Got Us Fallin' in Love Again - Usher
I'm normally a big Usher fan...not this time
  6. Take It Off - The Nameless One
she should not be allowed to make music
  7. I Like It - Enrique Iglesias ft. Pitbull
    Why is he still trying?
  8. Just a Dream - Nelly
Nice song by Nelly, but I'm just not that into it.
  9. Mine - Taylor Swift
the first non R&B single on here...but it's country. not only country but Taylor Swift. She sounds bad all by herself.
  10. Magic - B.O.B ft Rivers Cuomo
Really like these two artists, but apparently when you put them together they sound like a new age Outkast. Which isn't a good thing obviously.
The Best Part: Not a single Nickelback song!

So now that I'm done being a complete jerk, lets move on. Awful lot of good music has hit the radio and record stores the past few months. Lets check some highlights

Feeling a Little Down Tonight? This Won't Help. Just Kidding but Seriously..

My friends, my enemies, friends of my friends, friends of my enemies and anyone who is left over; it's the time of the week. No, not that time of the week. The other time. Also I feel I should warn you tonight that I'm suffering from a bad case of writer's block. I feel like I'm forcing every word I type from my brain to my fingers. It's just an overall terrible feeling, and I must say that I feel for anyone reading this now. Without further to do, lets do that thing we do..No, not that either.

I will if I may start out with a band I miss. American Head Charge. This band was absolutely amazing. They were what rock was supposed to sound like in the industrial rock scene anyways. Big sound, great vocals. Unfortunately certain chemicals got in the way of the music and after the death of guitarist Bryan Ottoson during a tour the band fell apart. Truly a shame...Although I still listen to their music.

NEW STUFF

Ok slow week for music but some highlights...

Athlete's album Black Swan was released this week. This album has everything you wanna hear. From the moment I heard this band open for Switchfoot in 2005, I knew they were something special. This band has an incredible, well HUGE sound: rumbling bass laced with echo driven guitars and on top of that orchestra like synth. This band is actually very radio friendly and I would love to hear these guys instead of everything else that I keep hearing. Give it a listen. It'll make you feel happy.

Bullet for My Valentine has a couple new songs out. These songs are really good and very well written. I'm excited for their new album. Could be their best one yet and what I think they should have sounded like all along. The album should hit stores sometime in April.

Things to Look Forward To

Like I said its been sort of a slow week for music, but there is plenty to look forward to!

EMPIRES. These guys are the future of music. They just need to be promoted. They have released some new stuff for their upcoming album which will be released Tuesday. Their previous two albums set the stage for what is to be an excellent third release. They have matured and improved in their musicality and technique and with the howling vocals they are setting the bar high for the rest of the music world.

Songs that Make Your Week Better.

The Broken- Coheed and Cambria

We Die Young - The Showdown

The Jesus Lizard - Showbread

Pink Lighted Suicide - Papercut Massacre

BANDs OF THE WEEK

36 Crazyfists
Dizmas
U2
Hundred Year Storm

shouts to all my fans just wanna say I appreciate all my readers. Next week is my break, but I will have a blog for you guys next week. I apologize for the short, late blog, but I hope you enjoy. Tell All Your Friends and Enjoy Your Week!

Nudie Magazine Day( Better Than Borophyll)

Whats up music lovers? Not that anyone cares but its week three of This Week's Tempo and I have lots of info to share. I'm still trying to find a more interesting way to do this so you may see some new features and layouts today and in the upcoming weeks. If there are any aspiring designers out there reading this I NEED YOUR HELP! I just now realized how retarded I am at this. I need a new design for The Tempo and anyone interested in trying it out is more than welcome just hit me up via email. Well onto what no one on Earth cares about(my writing).

Lets start with a new segment I like to call: "Things that Make you Go WHAAAAAT??!?

Click This Link

Mistress Stephanie and Her Melodic Cat. Um someone please tell me they didn't laugh at every song. This is brilliant if not downright frightening. Lets get some feedback on this. If I could take this seriously I would comment on it but I gotta finish laughing.

New Stuff

When Yellowcard left Capital Records a few years ago I was hoping for a signing from another big time company. When that didn't happen I was TICKED! But it's nice to see Ryan Key doing well with his new project. "Big If" is his new duo with Sean O'Donnell from the largely unknown but talented indie band "Reeve Oliver." Check both these bands out although Reeve Oliver has now disbanded their music phenomenal. Big If should take off with an album release hopefully sometime this year.

This wasn't in my notes or outline but if you miss bands like Jimmy Eat World, Weezer, and Sugarcult you are not alone. What happened to true Pop Punk music!? It all sounds the same now. The only bands I hear doing anything remotely interesting is So They Say and Amber Pacific. Maybe I'm just tired of hearing similar sounding songs come on one after the other on the radio. Some examples: A Rocket to The Moon, Boys Like Girls, Forever The Sickest Kids. Whats the deal with this melodramatic music? Oh Well I digress...

My favorite day of the week other than Saturday has to be Tuesday. NEW MUSIC DAY. I feel like Billy Madison on Nudie Magazine day. Sure theres a couple I look at that makes me sick but there's always the Drunk Chicks mag. This weeks Drunk Chicks mag:

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's new single Beat The Devil's Tattoo. From the album of the same name. The Album Release Day is set for March 9th and this single is absolutely amazing. It showcases a great blues sound and for fans of Darker My Love and Kasabian this song and band is for you. For more BRMC check out their album Baby 81.
Must Hear Song: "Berlin"

If you like Type O Negative, Danzig, Depeche Mode, Tool, Stabbing Westward, Nine Inch Nails, or HIM then check out Dommin's first release. Love is Gone is a really good album. yeah sure its a little gloomy but features very melodic song structures and razor like riffery. Plus Kristofer Dommin is probably the next best voice out there! check it out. I promise it won't hurt!
Must Hear Song: Dommin's cover of "(I just) Died In Your Arms Tonight"

Album Review!!!!

Story of The Year's The Constant

I have to admit I was a little disappointed in this album; it is still a solid release but not a must have. The Constant is the fourth release from SOTY but it sounds more like a Freshman or Sophomore album. They don't disappoint on big catchy choruses but this band never ventures into any ground breaking material. A lot of guitar effects on this album help the overall sound and keep it from being boring enough to lull one into sleep but maybe just maybe the some of the better songs like The Ghost of You and I can save this album. If you're gonna purchase The Constant get the Deluxe edition for the strong bonus cuts which I feel are the strongest songs on the album. If you're looking for a similar sound but more musicality check out 30 Seconds to Mars' great new album This Is War.

Songs of the Week

30 Seconds to Mars - Vox Populi (which is a phrase literally meaning Voice of the People)

10 Years: Season's to Cycle

Third Eye Blind: Slow Motion

These Green Eyes: Time Of Our Lives

Dropping Daylight: Brace Yourself

All That Remains: Forever In Your Hands

Demon Hunter: Collapsing

Creed: Overcome

Albums to Look Out For!!!

Athlete: Black Swan

HIM: Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice

and Now Cody's Band of The Week

Five Finger Death Punch

Thanks goes to all my readers you guys are the best! As you all know I'm up for suggestions just comment or email me! Have the Best Week and catch me again next week. I've already got some great stuff lined up and I leave you with this:

Insanely Idiotic

This Is IT

Hello ladies and gents. It's now the time of the week for you favorite con artist to trick you into thinking he knows what he's talking about. You guessed it. It's ME! Oh how silly you all are. Well here we go. In the words of the great Eric Idle,

New Bands

"Ladies and gentlemen, someone whom I've always personally admired, perhaps more deeply, more strongly, more abjectly than ever before. A man, well more than a man, a god , a great god, whose personality is so totally and utterly wonderful my feeble words of welcome sound wretchedly and pathetically inadequate. Someone whose boots I would gladly lick clean until holes wore through my tongue, a man who is so totally and utterly wonderful, that I would rather be sealed in a pit of my own filth, than dare tread on the same stage with him. Ladies and gentlemen, the incomparably superior human being", Jack White. Along with Alison Mosshart, Jack Lawrence and Dean Fertita they are The Dead Weather.

While this band has been around for awhile; I have just recently stumbled upon their greatness. With a video for their single "Treat Me Like Your Mother" directed by one of the best in the biz Johnathon Glazer, TDW has become one of my favorite bands. Readers please take the time to watch this video you will be impressed with its intensity and how ties so well with what you're hearing.
Must Hear Song: I Cut Like a Buffalo

A relatively new band, Phantogram has taken over my internet radio waves. This duo has some mad talent and you gotta respect that. Check out their first attempt Eyelid Movies that was released just last week; which I thought really pulled heavily from the fathers of electronic music Depeche Mode. These guys have impressed me and I hope some of you guys can feel these sick beats.
Must Hear Song: When I'm Small

Familiar Faces:

Anyone else who is tired of hearing Kesha, Justin Bieber, and Nickleback on the radio should be prepared to keep hearing these artists until they are run into the ground, but for those optimistic few lets check out some Familiar Faces.

Coheed and Cambria released a new single "The Broken" just last week for the new album "Year of the Black Rainbow" set to release on April 13 of this year. Coca has always had a catchy hook for their listeners. If that is what you're looking for you won't find it in this song. A straight shooting hard rocking tune that all the headbangers can enjoy. I absolutely love the intensity in this song, and it is something this band has missed on with their previous work. Lets hope this album continues like that.

My boy TobyMac owns 3 of the top ten christian songs of the week and has a new album released that I can't stop listening to. "Tonight" is one of Toby's most diverse albums of his career. I really love how in each song there is something new. This album is certainly not boring, and to all the hip hop fans something to listen to.
Must Hear Song: and this is a tough one. City On Our Knees

Music I just Can't Stop Listening To

Breaking Benjamin: I Will Not Bow
Chevelle: Jars
Gorillaz: Stylo
AFI: Medicate
Muse: Undisclosed Desires
Norah Jones: Don't Know Why
Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli: Bridge Over Troubled Water
Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris: Hallelujah

Bands I just Can't Stop Listening to

Spoken
As Cities Burn
The Showdown
Four Year Strong
Cage the Elephant
The Boxer Rebellion

Thats all for this week folks I'm looking for suggestions on how to make this better. Any comments or anything feel free to email me or comment. All suggestions are appreciated. If there are any bands you would like me to do a review on just do the same. If you enjoyed it please pass this along to your friends. And just for taking up all your time I now offer a free back rub available upon request.

Thanks All! Have a tremendous week,

Welcome From The Tempo

Hello to those unfortunate enough to be reading this. For my first blog I thought I'd tell you a little about what will be discussed here and why.

First off I shall introduce myself (I'm sure as time goes by I will update my profile on here). I am an aspiring writer and musician attending The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. GO VOLS! For those of you still reading this I applaud you. I'm assuming a number of you know me personally and it means a lot to me that you are reading this. I'm a journalism and electronic media major here at UT and I enjoy writing in many different forms. I write poetry, fiction, and now I have started this blog. A little earlier I called myself a musician. While true the only instrument I'm anywhere close to being good at is drums. This however does not reflect true enough my knowledge of music or anything rather. Ok maybe it does. Maybe we should talk about something else.

This Week's Tempo is a brand new, groundbreaking (this is laughable) blog about the true nature of music (not just the stuff you hear on your music box). I want to discuss many different types of music and the facets they command. I will also do album reviews when I do hear some good new album and I hope I can share with you so that you may listen. I will have a new post every week for sure but you may see some biweekly stuff if I just can't wait to share, or if it looks like I will have way too much information for one blog..You will get bored reading. For those of you still reading this you have more patience and are far more understanding than I. This is my first blog of my unillustrious career that I hope to expand into my future. This is my baby but any comments, suggestions, critiques, hate mail, fan mail, or love letters can be sent to my email address or you may leave a comment.

So without any furthur to do have a good week!!!
